Ford ‘Woodie’ Wagon

1948 was the final year for the old-style wood constructed Ford ‘Woodie’ Wagon which was replaced with steel for the 1949 season. The woodie was sold as a utility vehicle and was primarily designed to transport goods and passengers to and from train stations. The construction followed the early practice of manufacturing the passenger compartment portion of a vehicle in different hardwoods. Woodies were popular in the United States and were produced as variants of sedans and convertibles as well as station wagons, from basic to luxury.
